"These are rich pickings indeed." Helen Wallace, BBC Music Magazine - Performance: 5 stars

This is our debut CD on ASC's Prima Facie label.   A collection of premiere recordings of new works by some of Britain's top composers, The Long Way Home takes it's name from our first ever commission, a beautiful two-movement trio by David Knotts, inspired by the work of poet Sylvia Townsend Warner.   The disc also includes two trios generously written as gifts by the composers - first is Camden Reeves' The Dead Broke Blues Break, a work which weaves jazz and blues as the work recreates the sound of a dusty old record skipping and jumping.   The second of these gifts is Anthony Powers' hauntingly beautiful Piano Trio inspired by English folksong.   Next follows the premiere recording of Mark-Anthony Turnage's riotous A Fast Stomp.   To close the disc, we are joined by students from the Pro Corda International Chamber Music Academy for Cheryl Frances-Hoad's 5 Rackets for Trio Relay.   This is a brilliantly witty work, commissioned for the Chamber Music 2000 Scheme, and inspired by the 2012 Olympics.   We think it's probably the first ever double piano trio, and is written for one professional and one young/amateur group performing together, each movement aimed at a different age group or standard.   To read more about the pieces and the composers' inspiration, you can read our interviews with Cheryl, Anthony, Camden and David on these links.

P&P for UK addresses is £2.00, and for international orders is £3.50.
